On Saturday, February 27th 2016 we hosted our Annual
"Thanksgiving in February" meal in the church hall at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church in Manhattan, NY.
Our invited guests were over 300 local food pantry clients (including adults, children and seniors) in need of a helping hand. Upon arrival, these clients received a Thanksgiving-style meal, served by employees from
Con Edison and
Macy's.
Entertainment included a magician, balloon sculptors, face painting and the fellowship of new and familiar friends. Before leaving, guests received a sweet treat of jordan almonds!
As an extra parting gift this year, "personal hygiene kits" were given to each adult on their way out. These kits included: two sticks of deodorant, two toothbrushes, toothpaste and bars of soap packed into a convenient travel/carry case. A huge thank you to the
Colgate-Palmolive volunteers who took the time to package over 5,000 of these kits for our local food pantry clients.
It is a great feeling to be able to carry on the goodwill of the "season of giving" long after the holidays have come and gone. Thank you to all who contributed to making this day a success and memorable for these grateful families!
