Volunteers for St. Francis Food Pantries & Shelters dress in their best green to welcome over 350 needy families to the annual "St. Patrick's Day Luncheon." A hearty traditional Irish meal of corned beef and cabbage, boiled potatoes and carrots and Irish soda bread comprises the special menu for this event. Face painting and balloon sculpting by our talented volunteers delight the children, while a strolling Magician always amazes the adults. Even a surprise visit by a lucky Leprechaun with his own pot of gold coins (chocolate) in a lovely gold bag given to everyone completes the festivities of the afternoon. And of course lively Irish music lifts the spirits of those attending. As the guests depart they receive delicious shamrock cookies to remember that at the end of the rainbow for St. Francis Food Pantries' clients is a pot of hope for all.
